When community deepens magic happens...
At The Weekly Service we believe in the possibility of a thriving and fulfilling future where we are connected to our own values and purpose, to the land on which we depend, and to a strong and active local community.
Membership is your opportunity to participate in growing and deepening this community by investing your gifts, time and/or money in its future. As a member you receive free entry to all our services, discounts with our amazing partners, invitations to our quarterly retreats, women's and men's circles, and support to start your own project or join another members' project.
We’re excited to invite you to become a part of the beautiful membership community we are growing.
Before accepting our invitation we encourage you to take a few minutes to read through the information provided below to make sure membership is the right fit for you. If you have already decided membership is right for you sign up here:

What Our Members Are Saying
I’ve been doing yoga for over 10 years and have always done a lot of self-reflection so openness and connection have been really important to me. But over all these years I can pinpoint becoming a member of the Weekly Service as being the biggest shift for me in opening up. I feel like my mindfulness practices are indispensable but The Weekly Service community had this really profound and quick effect of facilitating connection with myself and others over the space of 6 to 12 months. In this community I'm surrounded by conversations that are loving and caring and before I know it I've jumped from head to heart.
+ Why does the membership program exist?
We want The Weekly Service to be available for as long as our community needs it. For this to happen we need money to cover our costs as well as people’s time and energy to deliver the experiences. Additionally in our experience when people invest their love and time into something they feel a sense of ownership and responsibility for its continuation. The Weekly Service lives or dies by the support of our community.
+ What am I joining and what is expected of me?
When you attend a service you become part of the community. When you become a member you deepen your commitment to the community. If you’d like to see the kind of lovely humans that are in our midst, have a look at our community page, or come along to a members picnic. Also if you want to get a sense of what it’s like to be a member read Luke Hockley’s story 'Building Parachutes', or Kirsty Moegerlein’s ‘Community must be found’.
As far as expectations of your commitment are concerned, investing your money is absolutely enough, but if you want to deepen your involvement there are many ways to do so. An overview of this these options is provided here.
+ How much does it cost?
Standard membership is $50 a month.
We are aware that this is out of reach for some people in our community. For this reason we also offer reduced-rate membership. If your income and/or expenses prohibit you from investing $50 a month we are happy for you to self-nominate for reduced-rate membership. The default investment for reduced-rate membership is $30, however we are happy for you to invest whatever amount works for you. To invest an amount less than the default amount of $30 please send us an email stating the amount you'd like to contribute and we will be in touch to set up your membership.
We have some especially generous members who invest more than $50 which helps us cover the cost of reduced-rate members. If you can afford to invest more than $50 this will enable us to welcome more members facing financial hardship.
We also offer membership for couples and are happy to offer the second membership at a reduced-rate of $30 per month.
Membership is paid via direct debit using a credit card or debit card. If you do not have a credit card or debit card please get in touch with us and we will arrange an alternative payment method.
+ How did you arrive at that cost?
Research indicates that intimacy and connection begins to deteriorate when the size of a community is above 150 people. We have therefore committed to keeping the number of members at any one service location (e.g. Thornbury or Sydney) below 150. However this creates a tension because it means we need to cover the bulk of our costs with revenue from a small membership base.
The annual running costs of a service site, when you factor in direct and indirect costs, is between $50k - $70k. At $50 per month per member, we can afford to keep the service afloat whilst maintaining intimacy. If you would like more information about our costs and revenue you can read through our profit and loss statement here.
+ Where does my money go?
The Weekly Service is incorporated as a proprietary limited business operating as a social enterprise. Membership revenue is used to pay for costs which include but are not limited to venue hire, food, and salaries. All our profits are invested back into the organisation and to supporting members’ community projects voted on by our members using Cobudget (an online collaborative budgeting tool). Our profit and loss statements are made available here at the end of each month.
+ What if I can’t afford to become a member?
Membership is accessible to everyone regardless of their financial situation. If you face significant financial hardship and cannot afford $50 per month you can apply for reduced-rate membership. Reduced-rate members offer their gifts, time and/or money to The Weeekly Service in a way that brings them alive and assists the organisation to remain sustainable. The default investment for reduced-rate membership is $30, however we are happy for you to invest whatever amount works for you. To invest an amount less than the default amount of $30 please send us an email stating the amount you'd like to contribute and we will be in touch to set up your membership.
+ If I am not a member, can I still come to the retreats, lunches and dinners?
In our experience when group sizes get too large, forming deep connections becomes more challenging. Additionally, we find that through commitment one’s sense of belonging deepens. For this reason only members receive invitations to our members events. If you want to get a taste for these experiences before committing we are happy to invite you to come along to dip your toe in.
+ How do I cancel my membership?
You can cancel your membership by clicking on "Already have an account?" above the "Sign up for your membership" box. If you can’t remember your password, please get in touch with us and we will cancel it for you.
