Al Wunder has taught improvised performing in Melbourne for over 30 years. Calling it “Theatre of the Ordinary”, Al somehow tricked and inspired adult students to shed inhibitions and perform spontaneously in front of an audience - without knowing what they would do next!
Today’s curator David Mackay - a long-time improv. addict - hopes to glean from Al how a shy, deaf kid from New York with 4 broken legs, makes the ‘scary’ arts of improv become a natural form of self-expression to many of his students. (How do we drop judgement and self-consciousness to be fully alive in the moment?)
