Saturday Service | Ancient skills for a modern world

  • Nest Coworking 829A High Street Thornbury, VIC, 3071 Australia (map)

Do ancient skills still have a place in our ever growing modern world?

How do we balance between the ancient knowledge of our ancestors and the demands of our everyday lives?

This weekly service, Josh Mclean and hosts, invite you to lay aside those heavy demands and step into a space that allows you a moment to reconnect…… with yourself, your ancestors and the strands of the web that binds us all together in this life.

Josh has been living this tightrope balance between the two worlds for the last few years as a traditional tanner, preserving animal hides and skins from waste and ethical sources. He had been living a vegan lifestyle before his journey led him to the Arctic of Lapland, where these skills, insight and connection emerged. Josh now runs a small business called 'The Bush Tannery', honouring thousands of years of working closely to the earth and our animal friends, sharing and preserving this knowledge so others may also learn and experience this rich tradition.

Although he will be speaking about traditional tanning, this is just an example that inside each and every one of us lays a soul gift, a soul craft to uncover, no matter how ridiculous or mundane in the eyes of our current society…..

Perhaps now, more than ever, these lost crafts and traditions are key in connecting us back to nature, our nature, each other and finding our way home.
